Installation

How can I install the My Star Online application?

Please register and download the application on your profile page.

The application does not install. What can I do?

Make sure you have administrator rights on your computer.
Also make sure you have correctly installed Adobe Air :

I want to manually update the application, how can I do so?

By default, the application automatically detects any newer version available. To download the new version, you must uninstall the current application and then download the new one from the website, on your profile page.

Application use

How can I login?

You must login with the email address and password you have submitted at registration.

How can I switch users?

For Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7
Right-click on the My Star Online icon in your System Tray and select "Change user".

For MAC
Control-click the Garou icon in your Dock and select "Change user".

How can I close the application?

For Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7
Right-click on the Garou icon in your System Tray and select "Close"�.

For MAC
Control-click the Garou icon in your Dock and select "Close".

I've opened the application and there is a small window in the middle of the screen. What is it used for?

It allows you to open the main application window with the displayed buttons. It also allows you to view the five most recent news items from your followed social networks. The buttons located in the "Other Stars" box allow you to select which star to display.

What is the Avastar used for?

The avastar is animated on your computer and instantly shows you news as they apeear on your followed social networks. You can also open the main application by clicking on the avastar.

Can I move the main application?

Yes, by clicking on the navigation bar to move it on your screen.

How can I change the displayed content in the main application?

You must click on the appropriate button of the top menu to change contents.

I dislike the animation sounds, can I disable them?

It is possible to entirely disable the animation sounds in the application settings.

How does the social networks interface work?

It is possible to go to the website by using the upper-right button.
It is possible to view the old contents with the arrows in the upper part of the interface.

How does the Fan Billboard work?

The Fan Billboard allows all the registered and logged users to talk with each other. You can read all of these messages.

Can I send a private message to a specific person?

No, the Fan Billboard regroups all messages sent by the fans.
Please note that it is possible to send a My Star Online invitation to a friend.

Can I access the main application without clicking the Avastar?

Yes, notice that this action will open all windows in front of your other windows.

Left-click on the My Star Online icon in the System Tray.

For MAC
Left-click on the My Star Online icon in the Dock.

Can I move the windows that are part of the main application?

No, these windows are locked in the main application. They are centered in front of the application when it is open.

I no longer want to view alerts. How can I disable them?

It is possible to reduce the daily limit of alerts in the application settings. It is also possible to disable all alert types from there.

What is the purpose of the red stars displayed in the top menu?

The red stars display the quantity of news you haven't viewed yet for each social network that you follow. As long as at least one news item hasn't been viewed, the star will be displayed.

I do not want My Star Online to start when I power up my computer. How can I make it so?

For Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7
Select START -> ALL PROGRAMS -> STARTUP. Then right-click on My Star Online and select DELETE.

For MAC
Select APPLE -> SYSTEM PREFERENCES. Then select ACCOUNTS and then, in LOGIN ITEMS, uncheck My Star Online.

Issues

The small desktop window appears in front of my other applications. What can I do?

The small desktop window is at all times in front of other application windows. However, it can be moved elsewhere on the screen by clicking and dragging the navigation bar. It is also possible to minimize it by clicking on the navigation bar arrow.

The My Star Online Avastar appears in front of my other applications. What can I do?

The My Star Online Avastar is at all times in front of other application windows. However, it is possible to disable animations in the application settings.

I believe I have found an Issue in the application. What can I do?

Please use the appropriate "Report an Issue" button in the main application window.
When you report an Issue, please note the version number and write down the actions that have caused the problem with a screenshot if possible. Your cooperation also helps us to improve My Star online.

I attempt to open the application but nothing is displayed. What can I do?

The application is closed when you have Internet connection issues or when an update needs to be installed. Make sure you have the latest application version and a stable Internet connection.

The application is open, but My Star Online is not displayed. What can I do?

If you have recently adjusted your screen resolution

For Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7
Right-click on the My Star Online icon in your System Tray and select "Adjust resolution"�.

For MAC
Control-click on the My Star Online icon in your Dock and select "Adjust resolution"�.

If it does not solve the problem, close the application and launch it again.
If closing and restarting the application doesn't work either, reinstall the application; some files might be missing or corrupted.

I have forgotten my password. How can I get it back?

Go to the My Star Online website and select "Forgot Password?"

I want to watch the YouTube videos but they aren't displayed. What can I do?

YouTube blocks some videos external to their website, which means they cannot be played in the application. It is however possible to directly visit the website which hosts the videos to view them.

I launch the application but nothing is displayed. What can I do?

The application requires an Internet connection. If yours is abnormally slow or unstable, the application contents will not be instantly loaded. Please wait a few minutes and the application will open.

I want to send a message to the Fan Billboard but I cannot complete it. Why?

The Fan Billboard restricts messages to a length of 330 characters to avoid excessively lengthy messages.

I want to access my profile through the application but the website asks me to login again, why?

For security purposes, it is impossible to directly access the profile page through the application, which is why a second login is required.

My computer slows down when I launch the application, why?

The application requires a minimum of processing and memory power to properly function. You can disable the animations to reduce the requirements.

I've bought a video clip through the Online Store, but I am unable to play it. What can I do?
